What are your specific qualifications? My path to becoming a certified Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is a curvy one. I began my career as a high school Special Education and English teacher, but have also spent a large portion of my pre-counseling career as a Behavior Intervention Specialist and School Psychologist within Laramie County School District #1. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education and a minor in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in May 1999, and earned an Ed.S (Educational Specialty) in School Psychology with an endorsement in Applied Behavior Analysis, also from the University of Northern Colorado in May 2000. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certified in the state of Wyoming in August 2022. Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), trained and certified in Brainspotting (July 2023), and am currently enrolled in EMDR training. Beyond my academic credentials, I have also been on the other side of the therapy office to treat anxiety, depression, frequent migraines, and more. My successful journey toward healing provides me unique insight about the benefits and results that can be obtained through a strong, committed therapeutic relationship.

Do you see people in person?Yes, and I prefer this method! I schedule sessions at my office on the outskirts of downtown Cheyenne. However, I do understand that circumstances sometimes prevent in-person sessions, so I offer clients care through telehealth.
-
Do you provide virtual/telehealth appointments?Yes. I understand that circumstances sometimes prevent in-person sessions, so I offer clients care through telehealth.
-
Is virtual therapy secure?I use video software that is HIPAA-secure and simple to use. Clients need a standard internet connection and a computer or tablet. Clients do not need to download an app or purchase a program. Virtual and online therapy securely offers the benefits of a traditional office setting in the privacy of the client’s own home.

-
Will telehealth/virtual therapy work for me?Teletherapy or virtual therapy isn’t a good fit for everyone; we’ll assess its potential efficacy in collaboration together when we first meet (virtually) and on an ongoing basis.

What is Brainspotting?Brainspotting was developed by David Grand in 2003. From brainspotting.com: "Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing. Brainspotting functions as a neurobiological tool to support the clinical healing relationship. There is no replacement for a mature, nurturing therapeutic presence and the ability to engage another suffering human in a safe and trusting relationship where they feel heard, accepted, and understood. Brainspotting gives us a tool, within this clinical relationship, to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind and its cognitive and language capacity. Brainspotting works with the deep brain and the body through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system. Brainspotting is accordingly a physiological tool/treatment which has profound psychological, emotional, and physical consequences."

What is EMDR Therapy?EMDR Therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a body/mind integrated therapy that mobilizes the body’s innate drive to heal. EMDR helps to access memory networks and changes the way memories are stored so that a person can move from emotional activation to a more grounded and regulated experience with adverse memories.
