Owner, Blue Sage Counseling
Hello! I'm so glad you're here!
I have always been drawn to helping others. However, years after I left a difficult marriage and subsequent painful divorce as a young mother of two toddlers, I found the time and courage to seek out therapy. The first few therapists were not the right fit for different reasons. Finally, through the recommendation of a friend, I found a therapist who specialized in Brainspotting. Our work together literally changed my life. I released the trauma my body stored that caused so much anxiety, depression, poor sleep, exhaustion, irritability, and frequent migraines. In our work together, I rediscovered my true self. Once the weight of my own negative thoughts no longer dictated my life, I was convinced that I needed to help others in similar situations release their traumas and reconnect with themselves. So, at 40 years old, I enrolled in graduate school while holding down my full-time career in the public school system as a Behavior Intervention Specialist and raising two teenage boys as a single mother.

If I can do it, so can you.

Today, I primarily work with adults (ages 18 and up) who struggle with such issues as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and ADHD resulting from some form of trauma; are committed to improving their overall well-being; are open to new ideas and perspectives; and understand that therapy offers tools that they can use to improve their lives. I have a particular passion for helping women, particularly mothers, navigate abusive relationships and rebuild their lives. I know quite a bit about ADHD, so I have a lot of coping strategies to share. I also enjoy teaching clients about how their brains work to better explain why they are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Anxiety is another area I am drawn toward in my practice. More recently, I’ve enjoyed helping clients who are working toward gastric bypass and bariatric surgeries. I strive to incorporate overall wellness into my therapeutic practice (i.e., sleep, relationships, nutrition, exercise, stress management, work/life balance, self-care, time management).

You can read my credentials below, but know that I'm guided by three major principles in my practice:

1. Therapy works.
2. You can be certain that I meet each client where they are, for as long as they need, with a tailored approach.
3. I strive to help my clients benefit from therapy to the point they might not need therapy any longer. In fact, that's my goal!
